Meat exports to Turkey started

12/19/2019

The export of beef and yearling store cattle from Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Republic of Turkey has begun, thus eliminating the deadlock in the implementation of this important arrangement for BiH farmers.

"This is good news after a lot of uncertainty. There have been many problems with the start of the export of beef to Turkey over the past few months, and above all they were technical. In particular, the problem was the slowness of the organization of the work by the Turkish exporter, " Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Sarovic said on the occasion.

It should be reminded that Minister Sarovic agreed in Ankara, at a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Turkey Bekir Pakdemirli, to continue exporting meat from Bosnia and Herzegovina to this country.

Namely, as the Free Trade Agreement between BiH and the Republic of Turkey is still awaiting ratification by the Parliaments, Minister Sarovic requested that in the meantime exports to this country continue without interruption, so that BiH businessmen would not suffer the consequences of waiting.

Turkey is one of the most important foreign trade partners and the volume of trade between the two countries is 700 million U.S. dollars.
