Agreements of Bosnia and Herzegovina that fall within the competence of the Department for Bilateral Trade Relations

Agreements on the Promotion and Protection of Investments Agreements on the Promotion and Protection of Investments are concluded in order to create favourable conditions for investing and providing legal protection and security to the investor of one contracting party and its investments in the territory of the other contracting party. These agreements define standards of foreign investment protection by providing full protection and security, fair and equitable treatment, the most favoured nation treatment and national treatment of investments and returns of investments of the investor of the other contracting party. Particularly important in these agreements are the procedural mechanisms that give foreign investors the possibility of an independent exercise of their rights in the event that those rights are infringed by the behaviour of the host country of the investment. The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina at its 20th session, held on 23 August 2023, adopted the new "Principles and standards of investment protection in the agreements on the promotion and protection of investments which Bosnia and Herzegovina concludes".
