FOREIGN TRADE POLICY AND FOREIGN INVESTMENTS

Foreign trade policy is a set of activities that a country uses to regulate the field of goods and services exchange with foreign countries, employing various measures and instruments, with the aim of improving the competitiveness of the economy on the world market and inclusion in the international division of labor.

The Sector for foreign trade policy and foreign investments, in accordance with the competencies prescribed by the Rulebook on the internal organization of the Ministry, performs tasks that are divided into six sections.

The Department for foreign trade policy, control and protective measures, among other things, is also engaged in administrative resolution tasks that include: regulatory measures of export and import of goods and services; business related to export and import regimes of goods and services (licenses, quotas, contingents, detachments, etc.); regulatory and other activities related to several forms of economic cooperation with foreign partners, as well as implementation of regulations related to the protection of domestic production.

In addition to the aforementioned activities, the Sector through the work of the Department for foreign investment policy and the improvement of the investment climate also implements foreign investment policy through the removal of regulatory and administrative barriers to operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and undertakes activities to improve the investment climate with the aim of creating a more favourable business environment for foreign investors, in coordination with other institutions, agencies, as well as civil society organizations and the private sector.

Foreign trade control of goods of strategic importance for the security of Bosnia and Herzegovina: weapons, military equipment, dual use goods and special purpose goods are carried out within the Department for Control of Foreign Trade of Strategic Goods.

The Department for the regulation of the field of weapons production performs the tasks of regulating the field of production of weapons, registration of legal entities engaged in the production, repair and marking of weapons.

The Department for improvement and promotion of export focuses its activities on proposing measures to improve exports, drafting decisions on granting funds for the organization of trade fairs in the country and abroad, active participation in the organization of fairs and other events, cooperation with other institutions in adapting the legal and economic system to European regulations and standards, and through other competencies / activities, strives to systematically and permanently support exporters with the aim of increasing BiH's exports of goods and services, i.e. improving foreign trade.

Due to numerous competencies, the Ministry is an important institution in the process of European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Department for European Integration carries out coordination activities of the Ministry's activities related to this process.
